Day 21: Orsay Museum

Today we were going to try to get on a river cruise, but unfortunately we woke up a little late and right when we got to the train station, Ryan realized he didn’t have any of the money.  So we turned around and got some brunch.  We both got cheese omelettes and they were delicious! Then it was supposed to storm so we went back and took showers, and did some laundry waiting for the storm.  It was really hot and humid outside so I was glad not to be walking around in it.

We then decided to go to the Orsay Museum at 4:15 because then it’s half price.  It only allows for a short visit, but tomorrow we are going to the Louvre so I figured it would be fine.  We’d at least get to see the inside of the museum which most interested me because it used to be a train station and to hit up some of the most famous paintings.  Pictures are forbidden in the museum, so we have like no pictures for today.  I did manage to sneak this inside picture:

There was also this really cool display under our feet of the Opera and the city surrounding it.  This was the only picture we got of us together this day! Can you guess who is who?

We saw all the big works of art there like Van Gogh’s self portrait, which was really cool.  Also of course some Renoir, Degas and Monet.  We did not pay extra for the special Manet exhibit.  I figured we’d just see his regular pieces, but then we found out they moved them to the special exhibit.  That was kind of annoying.  I liked a lot of paintings and realized I’m not that into sculptures.  I like the paintings much better.  Oh yeah and we saw Whistler’s Mother, which was cool too.

After the museum, we headed to happy hour!  We found this great pub that looks like it becomes a crazy awesome club at night, but it was about to storm, so we just had a few drinks and headed home.

Shortly after we got home we had some thunder and lighting and a LOT of rain, so I was glad to be home!
